General Instructions on use of CN Window Box

  • Fill inserts using peedfree compost. Water regularly.

  • Plant bare-rooted shrubs where possible.

  • Sow seeds in inserts in position where they can grow to maturity.

  • Use cold frames or greenhouses also to grow on plants and to protect from frost. 

  • Plant bulbs in inserts and grow on in protected area of your garden.

  • Put on display when flowers have arrived or fruiting has started

Mounting CN Window Box

Requirements

Note need two people to lift and position Window Box.
Tools:

Large straight edge screwdriver,

spirit level,

pencil,

measuring tape,  

1 x 13mm spanner or adjustable spanner 


See diagram to right.

Step one put the window box onto the window sill in the position required.

Push in as far  as possible . 
With a pencil mark outline position on the windowsill.

The front of the window box should be slightly slanted in towards the window .

Lift front of window box until it is flush with the bottom of the windowsill.​Screwdown locking nut (C) by hand until it is hand tight.

Screw out spacing bolts (A) until they are touching the wall. Ensure again that the back of the window box is pushed in to the window frame to the maximum

Use the level to check that the box is slightly leaning in to the window.

With screwdriver screw down the middle back bolt (B) until it is medium tight. With screwdriver screw down the other two medium tight.

The adjustable plate (D) should now be flush with the sloping windowsill. Using spanner tighten the lock not on both sides medium tight.

Screw down  the back bolts tightly.

Use spanner again to tighten lock nuts as far as possible.

Check back bolts are tight again.

The back of the window box should have moved only slightly maybe five millimeters from window frame.

Check adjustable plate is flush with windowsill, spacing bolts are touching the wall and also that the window box is slanting inwards.

The window box should be secure now.

Check by pulling as hard as possible out and downwards put your full weight on the box and ensure no movement.

Shake window box as strongly as possible again it should not move. If any movement go through tightening procedures and check again.

When no movement,  complete by tightening locking nuts on back bolts, also on spacing bolts.
